For all leading edge repairs we first remove the leading edge bladder and then unpick the stitching and open the leading edge, we then reinforce the front and back of the rip/tear with a self-adhesive patch (Material colours are limited Black or White) whilst keeping the repair as close to each part as we are possibly able to while making sure we do not adjusting the shape or size of the leading edge. We then stitch around and across the new repair patch with a zigzag stitch and then re-tape seal and re-stitch twice over the leading edge to guarantee a strong hold under pressure. After we have completed the stitching side of the repair we then replace the leading edge bladder back in to the leading edge, We then proceed to slowly inflate the leading edge and make sure the bladder and valves are properly in place and no twists or valve pulling. When the bladder if fully inflated to a max pressure of 9 psi, we check over the new patch and stitching to make sure all material is lined up and the stitching is holding, we then proceed to leave the kite inflated overnight in our work shop, we check the kite every hour to make sure repair still holding and also stitching. Leaving the kite inflated over night with the strut valves locked off also gives us the indication in the morning on if there are any bladder leaks or valve leaks that will need looking at. For all Strut repairs we follow along the same lines as the leading edge repair except for we have to unstitch the strut from the canopy to be able to fold the strut material out flat to place the new repair tape on the inside and out. We the proceed with the stitching around and across the new repair tape, re-tape seal the strut back together and stitch the strut back together and then stitch the strut back to the canopy. Then proceed with the pump test.
